Last week the Energy Minister, Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP and Lord Callanan visited the hydrogen blending facilities which have been constructed as part of the #HyDeploy project at Northern Gas Networks’ (NGN) Low Thornley site. They met with key project team members from NGN and Cadent Gas to learn how the HyDeploy project will soon introduce a blend of up to 20% hydrogen into the natural gas supply for the nearby community of Winlaton.
The project at Winlaton forms the second phase of the HyDeploy project, following the successful first phase at Keele University. Project Manager, Adam Madgett explained how the 668 domestic properties in Winlaton plus the local school, church a few small businesses will receive the blend for around ten months to provide further vital evidence about the suitability of the existing gas network to deliver blended gas as a stepping stone to meeting the Government’s Net Zero target..
